I don't know when they started this little trend, but the elementary school kids stroll around the block around 8:30 each morning. Seriously? How many more time-wasters can they think of? P.E., Recess and a morning walk. Hmm.
I really don't think I would care THAT much, but 8:30 happens to be when little miss Adilyn lays back down for a morning nap, since she wakes up at 5 a.m. smiling and giggling. And the kids are loud---LOUD. I understand a little chit chat, a little laughing, whatever. But the screaming, the singing at the top of their lungs--for real? Save it for music time.
PLUS Hudson likes to sit on the ottoman and stare out the window. And since everything else in his little life has changed, I'm not going to take away his one last sense of normalcy by closing the curtains so the kids won't harrass him.
All of this results in a screaming baby, a barking dog and a CRAZY me.
Don't they know naptime is sacred? Especially when the poor thing is learning to fall asleep on her own, and waking up means at least 20 more minutes of screaming and coaxing. Seriously. Plus, Adi-less moments are rare and jam packed with a two minute shower, lighting-fast computer work and anything else that requires two hands.
Walk in the gym, walk around the football field, don't walk at ALL--read a book or something, but don't drag the kids past my house at 8:30 a.m. She's napping =)

Oh Candis, I feel for ya. Naptime is a great thing and my girls still do it. It makes you nuts when it is messed up by someone you didn't invite. All I can say is it probably won't be the last time it happens. The second grade has a goal to walk 100 miles by the end of the year. It really is a good thing. They are also doing a unit right now on food and nutrition. Hope for a bad day because they will walk in the gym!
Oh that's stressful. I wonder if you could talk to someone about it. I don't blame you for feeling that way. Hope things calm down at 8:30am. =) Love your face.
I understand!! especailly with a baby that is a bit tempermental!! So, this is what I did... I bought a humidifier (they're good to have anyway in the winter) and I would close the door and make sure the humidifier was on to drown out a little noise, hopefull you find something that works, in fact I still do that with Evvies nap time and we don't even have that much noise, but I'm convinced that it helps.. you know that soothing hum.
Good luck
Those darn kids!
Hey Candis, I'm sorry naps are a precious thing. Heres an idea though, I sleep with a small floor fan and so when Kurt was in the bassinet in our room he got use to the noise of the fan so when I put him in his own room I had to get a fan for his room. He sleeps great. Plus it muffles all the noises. Maybe that would help with the kids and the dog barking. Just an idea. His is just a small fan on the floor facing away from him, it is never blowing on him and with the furnace on at night he still keeps warm.
What a bummer! Nap time is a needed part of the day for sure! I wish my kids still took naps! But they don't wake up at 5 am either! Stick in there... she'll get used to it.
